Day 55 of 365

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Something was wrong with my sweet little baby Makenna this morning. Both girls were up at 6:30am... the usual lately and yes when the usual used to be 7:00am a half hour earlier is a big difference for me! Anyway, Karlie woke up overly snotty and cranky and Makenna woke up just a little sad and not feeling that great. We attempted to play for a little bit but nothing was working so after breakfast I opted to let her lay down on the couch and watch cartoons. And she stayed on the couch not wanting to move or eat or drink anything for 3 hours! I finally convinced her to eat some jello but that was the only thing I could get her to take! Poor baby. After Karlie's morning nap she felt just fine and was super happy played and roaming throughout the house by herself and I think she truly enjoyed having every single toy to herself!!! After Karlie and I had lunch I snuggled on the couch with Makenna watching mickey mouse or something and we both fell asleep while Karlie was off doing whatever made her happy! And yes our house is completely baby proof and with all the proper doors shut and things up high so there truly isn't an ounce of damage she can do to herself when not supervised! So off to nap time we all went and once we were all up everyone was feeling back to there normal happy selves. We were able to go visit daddy at work and run a few errands as well!

Day 54 of 365

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

We had Karlie's 1 year doctor appointment this morning with shots and all. After waiting an hour at the doctor office just to go back to see the doctor for 15 minutes we were finally done and on our way for the rest of the day. The waiting room was packed and all the doctors were running behind... supposedly the computers were down and everything had to be done on paper and takes that much longer. All I know is that all the juice and snacks that I brought were gone and both girls were way over waiting any longer! Oh well... at least we know she is a healthy little girl weighing 20 pounds and is 29 1/2" tall. That only puts her at the 25th% in weight and 50th% in height... much smaller than her big sister was at the same age. Makenna was always at the top of the charts at the 85th% and 90th% for everything. Still amazes me how different two kids can be when they came from the same people. They each have their own personality and traits and likes and dislikes and through the years it will only become more and more apparent to us what all the differences are between them.

After the doctors we had to head to Costco for necessities and yet again I am reminded as to why I or anyone else wastes money on buying "toys" for the girls when all they ever need is an empty box to play in! As I was unloading and putting away everything I gave the girls some grapes to share as a snack so I could finish. Once I was done I couldn't find them but when I looked around the corner they were very quietly eating their snacks in the corner in the box watching the cartoons from a distance! So why again do parents and grandparents and anybody else for that matter spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on toys when they just want empty boxes to climb in and out of? Silly girls!!!

And another toy that isn't the toy... the laundry basket! Let's play roll it back and forth to each other and then toss it and all sorts of fun!

Day 53 of 365

 Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Well... I changed the girls' diapers and got Makenna dressed for the day and realized I left Karlie's clothes upstairs... so... I strolled up and picked out an outfit and came back down to half of the wipes pulled out of the case! Not sure who the culprit was... but Makenna told me "Mommy I clean table". Sure Makenna... whatever you say. I guess it could have been worse thing right?

My sweet innocent and dare devil Karlie has figured out how to get into the locked lid drawer. In all fairness the locks don't even work right. The part to actually lock them never got put on... (Chad)... so they are chipping away at the wood and creating enough of a gap to just pull open. So anyway, Karlie's new favorite toys are the lids to all our tupperware. And of course whatever one sister is getting into the other sister has to check out also! So yes... I have tupperware scattered throughout the house at various times of the day and pretty soon I will have to just have an empty drawer with tupperware lids hiding somewhere else way up high!
Super fun game! Makenna walks up to me and says "Mommy I wanna surf" and she is holding her blanket. So I laid it out on the floor long and skinny and stood her in the middle and I pretended to surf with her... she just sat down and said "Mommy push me" (which means pull me). Uh... not on her special bedtime snuggle blanket! So I grabbed a big blanket and set her down and took her for a "surf ride" (Which is more like a sled ride that I pull). She was laughing hysterically and smiling and having a blast and shouting "surf again mommy surf again mommy". (sigh) this kid has boundless energy and I don't! Karlie thought it was hilarious and tried chasing us for a little bit until Makenna wanted her to surf too... so here I am at 7:00pm pulling 50 pounds of kids on a blanket in circles around the house... only because they are so stinkin' cute! Next time it's Daddy's turn to go surfing!

Day 52 of 365

Monday, February 21, 2011

Silly girls... Makenna thinks its super fun to "hug" Karlie and "hold on" Karlie... most of the time her arms end up wrapped around Karlie's neck and we have to stop immediately due to choking... but once in a while she gets it right. This time it looks like she was practicing the "rear naked choke?" one of the MMA moves? Either way it's cute that they like to hug and hold on and cuddle with each other once in a while! It's always short lived... but oh so cute!

Day 51 of 365

Sunday, February 20, 2011

After getting home at midnight from supercross last night and then waking up at 6:30am with the little rugrats... We had a jammie and nap day for all of us! Lots of play time in the evening though when we all perked up a bit after dinner. Even the girls seems to be quite tired all day. They must have played really hard with Mima and Pipoo the night before?

Makenna loves to take all the pillows off the family room couch and lay them out on the floor and jump down on them... after jumping on the sofa cushions... such a great example for her little sister! Oh well as long as they have fun and enjoy life than I can worry about a $300 couch later!

Day 50 of 365

Saturday, February 19, 2011

SX SD (Supercross San Diego)!!! Today was a fantastic day away from the kids for some very loud and cold and wet motorcycle fun with our best friends Mike & Kristy! We headed down early so we could walk the pits and check everything out then back to the car for some tailgating (beer & BBQ) under the EZ-up canopy since it was raining! Chad and I wore our snow pants and jackets to keep dry and warm and we haven't had to wear them since we went skiing/boarding 5 years ago! Ha ha!! We had a blast getting away for the night while the kids were safe at home with Mima and Pipoo. We also had some pretty sweet seats! They were 7 rows up from the dirt but far enough away we didn't get muddy and we were the next section away from the finish line! Well... at least I thought they were pretty good seats! For the record #22 Chad Reed (YAY!!) won the race and #7 James Stewart (YUCK!!) got second... and I don't remember where #2 Ryan Villapoto placed. I wasn't really paying all that close of attention. We are hoping that we can go every year and make a day out of it... but when to start bringing the kids is the question. I think maybe one more year and then they will be ready. It's a lot of noise and sitting down in one chair for a few hours and it's cold and wet... not really the ideal place for little girls! We'll see!
Mike & Kristy Delaney

One of my very best friends!!! Love this girl!

If you can see the rider... that's #2 Ryan Villapoto (Chad's favorite)

Day 49 of 365

Friday, February 18, 2011

Finally... a lazy day at home after such a busy week! Since Daddy came home today mommy even got to take a nap while the girls did! Well actually I started my nap a half hour before they did and didn't wake up until they did so I got the longest nap! I was so tired! Today was a whole lot of play time as a family and it was so nice and relaxing! After dinner Makenna decided to walk around with her hands in her pockets... just because that's what daddy does!

Did I tell you Karlie took a step? I think I did? It was just one small step but it was the push I needed to realize that it's time to accept that my baby is getting bigger and ready to walk so I better be a good mom and start helping her! So tonight we walked our normal circles around the house and Makenna so badly wanted to help too... we all three of us walked slowly around the house and the two of them were just laughing and laughing at themselves and each other. Not sure what was so funny but they were having a blast! It won't be long until she is really on her own!

Day 48 of 365

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Children's Musuem of the Desert! That's were we headed to today with our very good friends Andrea and her son Adam. Such a cool place for little kids to learn and explore and play! They had so many cool things and I want to go back and take Chad to show him. The only down part was that they don't allow strollers into the museum so I had to carry Karlie on my back. She's not quite as little and light as she used to be... I was very glad to set her down in a little kid play area inside after carrying her for about 45 minutes! Just a few of the fun things to do... a rock wall to climb, bones to dig up and discover, huge metal nuts and washers to stack and play with, a giant room with dress up clothes and couches and mirrors and stuff to play dress up with, tubes that hang to roll golf balls through, a grocery store with mini carts and actual real empty food boxes and juice jugs, a pizza restaurant with fake pizza to make, a real size police motorcycle to climb on and ride, and real sized Volkswagen bug car to paint, a table to color at, and then outside a big empty grass area to run around with balls to throw or kick or hula hoops or a sand box to play in... there was so much to do! Unfortunately there were a couple school tours that came through and made it extremely crowded, but we were ready to leave and get some lunch anyway. This was definitely a place I would recommend to anyone with kids 6 and under!!!

After the museum we headed to a local park to eat some lunch we had packed and play and run outside... get some good energy out so they would sleep the hour drive home! There was a giant fire truck made into a play structure with a slide and several steering wheels to drive! Super fun! Makenna was some what interested... mostly Adam was thrilled over the park but Makenna was hungry and tired and not in a super happy mood. Oh well. She at least got one slide in!

Adam LOVED the fire truck and was all over it climbing here and there and sliding down anything and everything he could! So much fun for a little boy!

Since the girls had napped in the car on the way home and wouldn't be napping again I decided to enjoy the sunny day (even though it was very windy and chilly) and take the girls for a big bike ride instead of just in out neighborhood. We biked the 2.5 mile loop I ran the other day and it went by so fast! Both girls had juice cups and crackers and did just fine... until Makenna took away Karlie's cracker... but a quick "Makenna give that back to Karlie" and we were good to go again! I an so excited for the nice warm spring weather and to be able to venture out farther with the girls!

Day 47 of 365

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Well... the reviews of my first time leading MOPS this morning... FANTASTIC!!! I really enjoyed myself and I think all the ladies enjoyed the story and games as well! I was so nervous and uncomfortable praying out loud in front of the group... but I just kept it quick and to the point and all was well. I read a super cute story about a little 6 year old girl asking her mom questions about Heaven. She asked is people had to brush their teeth in Heaven and the mom replied no all people will have dentures that never wear out and if people had to take showers in heaven and she said no all people will always smell good. Cute questions but the big questions the little girl asked were where her mommy would be when she gets to heaven (in the italian restaurant all you can eat buffet of course!) and if Jesus has a book of who goes to Heaven and what if you do something bad, the mom said you need to be sorry and ask for forgiveness and Jesus will be happy. So anyway after the super cute story my questions to the group were, "Who told you about Jesus and his love?" (such as your parents, a grandparent, a teacher at school or a neighbor friend?) I wanted to show the women that as mothers we are responsible for showing our children the love of Jesus and the opportunity that having a relationship with him will provide for our kids. And then in smaller discussions among our tables about how we can show and teach our kids about Jesus. What are some of the tools you use that work? What doesn't work? What are some of the struggles you have or praises you have in teaching about Jesus? And then after enough chit chat... onto the fun games. A little get to know you game... 2 truths and 1 lie, and then a relay game. The picture above is the result of the relay. There were 4 teams and they had to diaper a baby doll while holding a phone on their ear and then put a puzzle together and then find a bible verse and write it down and then finally make a flower out of play-dough and once all done bring all items up to me. 2 teams were done at the same time and racing up and it was so so funny for everyone! I finished the meeting with 20 minutes left which was great so we could have time to make a few announcements and chat time and then a final prayer! Oh goodness what a relief it was for me to have everything go so well and to be done. It was a quick 2 hours! And once I got home I was exhausted! I hope that Jen (the leader) knows that I am more than willing to lead again if she ever needs or wants it... I just hope it's not a regular thing! :-)

Little Miss Karlie has discovered what fun it is to stick your fingers in your nose! She's been sticking various fingers in her nose for a while... it's quite cute but I just hope she quits it soon! It's also quite gross! Silly baby she is just to cute for me to tell her no every single time! Oh well... all in due time.

Oh little girl how brave you are! She absolutely has NO fear what so ever! She's decided that standing on chairs in the middle of the room is a fun activity! She either is climbing up the chairs to get on top of the table or just climbing up the chair to stand on top of it. She can't figure out how to get down yet and falls off every time. She hasn't hurt anything yet and only cried the first time but now just falls off and rolls over and crawls on to another toy for a little more play time. Yet again it amazes me how different her sister and her are in this category! My sweet sensitive Makenna still cries every single time she falls down no matter how serious or minor!

Day 46 of 365

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

I will have to post pictures from today... tomorrow. It's been a busy day and my mind just needs to vent and rest. Before I forget the most important thing I need to say that tonight as we were playing upstairs before bed time Karlie was standing up at her crib holding onto the railing... she was standing sideways and let go of her crib and took one step and fell down! She did it again after holding onto my hands I let go and she took a step and fell down! Then later on she was kneeling down and stood up all by herself and just stood there holding on to nothing! Big Girl!!! I know this is only the first step towards walking and it will be a while before she is running throughout the house like Makenna... but YAY KARLIE!!! I have deliberately NOT helped Karlie in the walking process. She could have walked easily a month ago... but I wasn't ready and I'm not 100% ready yet now either... but it's time I guess! My sweet baby... it looks like she's going to be my last and I'm terrified of how quickly they grow up! I want to hug and kiss and cuddle and carry them everywhere they go! Before I know it they'll be in school and leaving me for the day! Sigh :-(

On a completely different note... I am leading MOPS tomorrow morning and I desperately need some sleep and prayer! Our leader called me this afternoon and said all three of the leaders can't make it tomorrow and I was the obvious and perfect choice. I am so thankful she thought of me and I am so grateful for the opportunity... but the first time is always a bit nerve wrecking! I prefer not to pray out loud in front of others... I will most likely stumble most of my words... but most of all I don't want to send the wrong message to the ladies and I want them to have a good time and get good information. If I think like this over a quick 2 hour breakfast with friends... how must a pastor of a church feel every sunday morning? I guess you get used to it right? And pray a lot for the proper guidance from God?

I have a story to read and some scripture to go with it but I am lacking discussion questions... hopefully they will come in the morning? I also have two fun games planned depending on the time. I am very excited and yet nervous as well. Hopefully tomorrow's blog post will have terrific reviews. Tonight I leave you with an anxious heart and mind and the hopes that God will lead me in the right direction and give me the right words to speak.

PHILIPPIANS 4:13
I CAN DO ALL THINGS IN CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME

I believe I've said this before and I have a million pictures of her doing this... but the kid LOVES LOVES LOVES to play in boxes or anything similar to a box!

Day 45 of 365

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Daddy is off to work and we are off in search of a new bike and trailer... but before we can ever go anywhere any day... we have to have our morning milk and mickey mouse! My two valentine girls are so sweet and bring me such joy! It's amazing to know and understand truly what "unconditional love" feels like! I guarantee there will be times in the future that this will be tested... but for now the love that my girls and I have for each other (Yes Daddy too!!!) is perfect and I love waking up to them every day and getting to be their mommy! Happy valentine's day to my sweet angels!

On a side note... I found a bike and trailer! Went to Dick's Sporting Goods in Murrieta per the recommendation of Mike and the staff there was so wonderful and helpful. I was able to find the right bike for me in a perfect color and on a great sale as well as the trailer on display was exactly what I wanted and discounted 35% less than the store's cost! So I got GREAT deals and am super stoked for nice weather to take the girls out in! Once we got home I hooked it all up and took a quick test ride around the neighborhood! The girls had a blast and I love it!!! New adventures await us!

Day 44 of 365

Sunday, February 13, 2011

It has been such gorgeous warm weather the last couple days I've decided that I need to invest in a bicycle for myself and a trailer for the girls to sit in so we can go out for bike rides! Great idea... not easy to find what you want for a cheap price! I bought this trailer from Walmart... great trailer... everything was going to work perfectly... but... it had a hole in the side window that Makenna would most likely play with and make bigger... so we had to return it. Chad put the whole thing together before we noticed the hole so the girls were able to play in it and had a blast! New toys are always a big hit around our house! We also bought a bike today and returned it within an hour as well! Once Chad put it together and I rode on it... it was easy to see why it was so cheap and on sale! So anyway... still in the search of a bike and a trailer. possibly tomorrow I will go look again!

Since Chad has to be on duty for Valentine's day tomorrow we decided to enjoy our valentine tradition tonight... a heart shaped pizza from Stadium! We love their pizza and we aren't big on celebrating the valentine holiday so why not a romantic heart shaped pizza that tastes delicious and then neither of us has to cook or clean up! Sounds like the perfect holiday to me! And the girls are young enough to not have a clue what the holiday means so we don't have to indulge in the festivities quite yet.

Day 43 of 365

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Hockey day! Chad joined a men's roller hockey league last month and his team is in first place so far! The girls and I have yet to watch a game so tonight was our first game... and it went great for Karlie... she loved being out of the house and all the new sights to see... Makenna on the other hand was scared out of her mind (loud noises) and wouldn't let anyone put her down. She was held the entire time! Luckily Mima and Pipoo were there to watch also and we all took turns on kid duty. In the last few months Makenna has developed a very strong fear for any and all loud noises. Such as the trash man or certain dogs barking or a car backfire... just about anything. So when the hockey puck was hitting the side walls or if someone crashed into the walls... it was VERY loud and she was terrified. I'm not sure how best to deal with this fear so at the moment we are comforting her and letting her know there is nothing to be scared of and it's just a loud noise. Maybe it's just a phase and will pass?  Who knows.

Anyway, after the game we all sat in the cafe at the rink and played and relaxed for a little bit. Chad had an hour break in between his games so we got some food and drinks and played for a bit. Makenna was back to her normal self and was super happy to not be near the loud noises!

Day 42 of 365

Friday, February 11, 2011

Today Makenna and I had our very first "playdate" with our new mom's group here in town. It's called "Hemet Christian Moms". Today's adventure was a valentine exchange at the park . It was the cutest thing to watch all the kids get lined up and drop their valentine's into everyone else's bags! Of course this was Makenna's first valentine exchange and she really didn't understand the concept... but when we got home and went through her bag she was SO excited to see all the stickers and candy she got! The group of ladies and their kids were all very nice and easy to talk to. I am so excited to find a local mom's group that we like! I think our social calendar is going to be filling up very quickly!
A favorite for Makenna (Karlie too) is to "color" on mom's phone! I have an app called Todler lock and when you touch the screen it makes shapes and lines and sounds and for a one year old and a two year old it is quite entertaining... and honestly a life saver for me when we are in public and I just need 2 more minutes of cooperation from the kids to finish our task!

Day 41 of 365

Thursday, February 10, 2011

My little princess Karlie is getting to be such a big girl! I might have said this before but just in case... she is NOT interested in me feeding her food from a jar or me feeding her from a spoon even! She prefers to feed herself everything and once in a while I get lucky and sneaky and shove a spoonful of something in her mouth quickly before she can protest. So tonight for dinner we had corndogs on the kitchen floor! It was the perfect setting for her... she had the freedom to feed herself as well as roam throughout the house and come back to her dinner when she wanted a bite! I call it "drive by dinner". It's Makenna's favorite style of dinner as well!

Day 40 of 365

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Oh goodness what have I gotten myself into? Today I signed myself up for a "5k mud run" taking place here in Hemet on May 14th... 3 short months way! I decided to sign Chad up too... hey... misery loves company right? And I managed to convince a couple of my best friends to join in also! I haven't run for competition since high school and I haven't run for really anything since then... mild exercise is what you could state what I've been doing. So... now here I am 3 months away from taking on mud and hills and obstacles and a 5k (3.1ish miles) run. It should be interesting to say the least. And yes I am totally stoked about it. I would really like to get in shape and exercise and eating right is the only way I'll get there! I just might die the afternoon of May 14th after I run! :-)

Makenna has decided a few days ago she needs her sunglasses in the car everywhere we go! So after leaving the gym today I couldn't resist a picture... she's just so cute with pigtails and pink flower sunglasses! I'm in trouble though if anything ever happens to these... it's the only pair of sunglasses we have!
Karlie is desiring to be an independent eater these days and throws a huge fit if we give her too many bites in a row before she gets a chance to feed herself... and in the last few days she requires a spoon. She has yet to actually get any food to her mouth with a spoon or fork... but she likes to move the food around on the plate and it makes her happy while I try to shovel bites in before she gets ticked again!

Day 39 of 365

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Karlie opens the drawer and Makenna shuts it... Karlie opens the other drawer and Makenna shuts it. We have had a few finger shutting issues in our kitchen and eventually I am hoping these two little girls will figure out the drawer shutting and opening procedure. Tonight Makenna attempted to put her baby doll bed with baby in it... inside the bottom drawer... yes it fits but no the drawer wont shut.

I know every mother asks this of their children... why is it that the things you enjoy to play with the most are NOT the 800billion toys you have scattered throughout the house. WHY do you always prefer MY stuff and random house items that you really shouldn't be playing with? The kitchen cabinets and drawers are guaranteed a hit every single time no matter what. Makenna prefers to hide her princess dolls or other small toys in a certain cupboard so that Karlie won't get them... little does Makenna know that Karlie knows where that cabinet is and how to get into it! Such fun!

ps... my apologies for the poor quality of the picture. My camera battery died on me tonight and this was the best one I had on film.

Day 38 or 365

Monday, February 7, 2011

Okay... I'm super frustrated. I'm not happy with my camera... it's not taking the quality of pictures I would like but at least I have one that works and minimal issues. BUT... to make matters worse... this blog site isn't letting me upload any pictures! It keep telling me that I have run out of free space and wants me to pay money to buy more!!! I'm confused and not sure if this is really how it works so for now I am on delay of pictures and posting and blogging in general until I figure this out.

Stupid technology!!!

okay well... apparently I'm the official retard! DUH! I'm not surprised. When I upload pics it saves every single one even if I never post them to the blog and I'm only allowed so much space on this online album... so now I have to go through and delete pictures I never used and make sure I delete the right ones otherwise it will delete them from the blog post. SO... again... stupid technology!

Since I am frustrated and tired and ready to hit the pillow... here is just one picture from the day... Makenna very very very much enjoys playing in the hall closet... I have no idea why. So quite often I go and sit down and play with her inside the closet. She likes to open and close the door and play peek-a-boo with either Karlie or Chad or the dogs if they are inside. She likes to walk in sit down and be quiet for a few seconds then stand up walk out shut the door (I'm still inside siting on the floor) and then open and come inside and repeat a zillion times. If you could tell me why this is such a fun game... I would like to know. Anyway, this time I brought Karlie inside to sit with me because she is afraid of the vacuum cleaner for some reason and has never been inside the closet due to the vacuum cleaner being at the door way in. Poor little girl... I must have traumatized her at some point. So... long story short... Makenna loves to play in the closet and drag me in there with her... so much fun for a 2 year old!

Day 37 of 365

Sunday, February 6, 2011

SUPERBOWL!!! Well I'm not really all that excited about it. I could have cared less about the game or who won but for the record I will show that the Green Bay Packers won against the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 I think was the final score. So there I paid attention!

Chad was on duty so the girls and I headed over to Mike & Kristy's house so the girls could all play together and us adults could attempt to watch the game. All three girls had a great time together as usual. There are always the little fights over sharing toys but it is getting MUCH better!!! There will always be the  "NO that's mine" and "My turn" but what can you do... Karlie and Hayden are one and Makenna is two... they are learning the rules of play but they don't fully understand or have the desire to share just yet... it will all come with time.

Today was absolutely beautiful weather wise!!! It was a warm 75-ish degrees and sunny and able to open all the doors and windows again after a week of not being able to! So before we had to go down for nap time I let the girls play in Karlie's new birthday present outside... a water tray table toy thing. It was a huge hit with Makenna... Karlie off and on... she's really loving the swing outside also so she was torn between two really cool toys. Makenna was soaked instantly so I had to keep taking layers off so she could stay somewhat warm... she eventually was in just a diaper but happy as can be playing in the water!
Thank you Schleschlie for the water table... it's a big hit!!!

Karlie was just having a ball and getting soaked!

Over at Mike & Kristy's tonight after the game was done and it was time to calm down before we headed home... decided that Kristy's Dad was the perfect person to read her a few books! I have a picture to show how cute it was but I'm having issues uploading more pictures. Makenna had met Alan (Kristy's Dad) only a handful of times but yet she has no problem sitting next to him and giving him a book to read to her. He must have that strong Grandpa vibe that says he is a push over :-)

okay I figured out the upload trick... this is Alan (Kristy's Dad) reading books to Makenna... I think she made him read her 3 books!

Day 36 or 365

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Mudbowl 2011!!! The Promise Church I have been attending the last month every year puts on a tackle mud football game on their property and it looks like a nasty disgusting mess of a good time! I took the girls and Leslie and her two girls to get some food and watch some muddy football... and really just another excuse to get out of the house and play outside! It was right at nap time so we didn't stay long but the girls had a great time exploring and playing in the dirt and grass. Karlie was filthy to the max when it was time to go home! But she had fun so that's all that mattered!
Yes I let my kid out in public in this mis-matched outfit! I knew we would be playing in the dirt and grass and I didn't want her to get anything that I truly loved seeing her wear all nasty!

Karlie was perfectly content playing with spilled food from Makenna's lunch! Then when I took it away... I mean come on it was gross... she was even happier pulling out the grass and weeds and flowers from the dirt and putting them into the wagon! And no I did not carry her... I let her crawl everywhere she wanted to go or get pulled in the wagon... she was the happiest ever! Freedom for her!

Once we got home both girls played absolutely perfectly with each other and Madie and Megan for an hour... not sure if they were happy to be home and have toys to play with or happy and trying to avoid nap time? Either way they had a great day. In the evening I caught Karlie emptying out the princess bucket and sitting in it... it's quite a common occurrence between both girls but I don't get a chance to take a picture! She is a little climber and into everything! I've said it before and I'll say it again... she will be the child that Chad and I really have to keep an eye on!

Day 35 of 365

Friday, February 4, 2011

Before I forget a cute story for Makenna... Tonight as we came home we walked up the sidewalk to the front door and something somehow made Makenna say "candy canes" and I stopped and said "what Makenna, candy canes?" and she got so excited and said "yay candy canes" I had to laugh but told her she was going to have to wait until next Christmas and then she yelled even louder and jumped "kissmas tree kissmas tree yay candy canes kissmas tree..." by this time I have the front door open and she runs in and falls to the ground after several of her jumps and arms flying in the air and proceeds to roll around on the floor yelling very loudly "yay candy cane kissmas tree kissmas tree yay candy cane"!!! If I didn't have to turn the house alarm off I would have attempted to catch it on video... but no such luck. And after all that we let the dogs in the house and come back in and she see her blanket laying on the floor and picks it up and says "blanket stay here... I lub you blanket" the blanket stay here part is from me because I told her as we were walking out the door blanket had to stay here. This kid cracks me up!

Anyway... a whole lot of nuthin' goin' on here today. Chad went back to work after being home for the last 11 days so the girls and I played and cleaned all day and finally hit the gym this evening. I managed to walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes and made it 3.0 miles! No that's not amazing but I was quite proud of myself... 3.1 miles is a 5k marathon. Lately I have been toying with the idea of running a marathon and whether or not I'd be able to stay alive afterward. I know that I could do a 5k easy... well no not easy but I could handle it. My good friend Teal is walking in a 13k in a few months and I'm debating whether to join her or not. I would need proper shoes (mine are several years old and just getting me though until we can afford new ones) and I would also need to seriously do some training. A 13k is roughly 8 miles. If I managed to keep the fast pace I had tonight it would take me exactly 2 hours to finish walking a 13k... not sure I feel like walking that fast for 2 hours! But if Teal was by my side than it would be so much easier right? Who knows I'm not sure... there is also a 5k mud run here in town in May that looks interesting and I've heard from people who have done them that they are a blast. Not sure what to think. I need to get into shape and lose weight and tighten up a few areas so maybe a marathon would be a good motivator for me? I think I need to get a little more info and look into the options out there. For now... to be continued...

Here are some pictures of my attempt to cook dinner tonight. Makenna wants to help stir so I let her dump the rice in the pan and then stir it around. And of course Karlie has to be in the kitchen with us and wants to be held... well I needed to focus on Makenna near a flame so I had to let Karlie play in the cupboards which isn't allowed (yes slight OCD on my part with the organization of my cupboards) and she had a blast knocking over all the boxes and pulling them out and putting them back in... in all the wrong places of course! Oh well making dinner tonight was interesting and challenging. But we had a very healthy dinner of rice, chicken and steamed veggies!

Miss Karlie wants to get into everything anywhere... so much out there in the world for her to discover!

Had to post this picture from them playing this morning... The ball pit is a HUGE hit!! I could stare at Karlie's smile all day... after a child who barely smiled (Makenna) and still refuses to smile especially for pictures... when Karlie smiles all day everyday it just lights my world and makes me smile :-)

Day 34 of 365

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Karlie still eats a few jars of baby food here and there... It's more for convenience while we are on the go than anything else... but she is slowly refusing to be fed and only wanting to feed herself. This morning daddy made us girl pancakes for breakfast so I cut them up in super small Karlie bites and let her have at it! There's only butter on the pancake... no syrup... but she absolutely loved it! Makenna always likes pancakes as well... with a little bit of syrup and possibly some powdered sugar if she's being good.

I had a baby shower to go to this evening for a friend of mine in the MOPS group. I get bored with putting clothes in a bag and really enjoy making daiper cakes so when I have the time and energy to spend on a diaper cake... I very much like to make them for whoever! Personally I prefer the bath time cakes over all the others and especially if the have a bath theme... like a friend of mine had a sesame street bath theme... that was super fun! I wonder if I can find the picture to show you. Anyway... long story short... here is my creative-ness for the afternoon!

Found it!!! This was for my friend Amy and her baby girl who was born December 2009. So fun to put these together!
