Day 33 of 365

Wednesday February 2, 2011

Yet another busy wednesday... MOPS and naps and neighborhood walk and dinner and play and bath time. This evening I realized how big Karlie is getting and all the things she can accomplish. She watched her big sister very closely and is a quick learner! She like to stand in front of the oven and play peek-a-boo with herself! It's super cute until she pulls the oven door too hard and falls down with the oven door on top of her! Karlie can climb onto the play chair and then climb onto the play table that we have in the family room... I'm not exactly a fan of this just as I'm not a fan of her climbing into the swing out back and up the slide over at Hayden's house... I think she is just too little to be doing such big girl things with no fear! Karlie can climb the stairs all by herself and once she gets to the top she sits down and faces the stairs with a huge grin on her face... she is so proud of herself! And it's nice for us not to have to carry her up all the time... still need to work on how to get down them. Karlie has also moved out of her bath chair. She's still not sure about it and cries for a second when we put her in the water... but then she realizes how free she is to move and splash around! She had been attempting escapes from the chair and it was getting pretty dangerous so it was time... Yet another big girl moment I just wasn't ready to admit!
look at me!
Peek-a-boo I see you!

On top of the table with sister... where neither of them is suppose to be!

Here is video of Karlie climbing onto the table... and yes pardon our scolding of Makenna... we didn't say anything the first time so that I could get a picture... but then kept telling her no yet she kept climbing up... oh well we will just have to be extra careful I guess!

Makenna is encouraging "Come on Karlie come on"

two big girls playing in the bath tub! And if you can see the coloring on the bath walls... thanks to Miss Schleschlie Makenna has color crayons for the bath tub that she is enjoying very much! I sure hope they clean off easily!

Karlie received a hockey stick and puck and ball for her birthday and Chad is getting the most enjoyment out of it! He is attempting to "teach" Makenna how to play... but mostly he just hits the puck and ball across the house aimed at either one of the kids or me. It's just a small plastic one and I assume it won't last too long so I'm not too worried about it... yet!

Day 32 of 365

Lazy tuesday after a very busy and fun filled weekend!!! I managed to fit in a 3 hour nap this morning... both girls decided to wake me up for needs in the middle of the night so a nap was necessary! We opted to take up a dinner offer over at the Delaney's... and it was a blessing! Early naps for all over us meant the bed time stretch was extra cranky! Little Miss Hayden has a slide toy inside the house that we have discovered Karlie knows how to climb up to the top and get stuck... meaning she hasn't quite figured out how to sit down and turn around and then slide down... so I panic as she is leaning over the edge about to go head first and run over and pick her up and then I end up scaring her. Why does my princess have no fear?

Other than the slide the police car buggy is #2 on the favorite toy list at Hayden's house... and yes Karlie can open the door and get in the seat all by herself! I have watched her do this and yes it scares me that she seems to have little fear and is able to do things I'm not ready for my little princess to do! If possible I would make her stay little and sweet and innocent for so much longer than she would prefer. She is able to do so many things and is becoming a "big girl" much much much sooner than I am happy to admit! So anyway... my girls are big girls and not so much babies anymore. It makes me sad but I guess it's inevitable.

Makenna likes to push Karlie in the cop car buggy... so far very minimal accidents!

And also likes to push Karlie over and sit in the car with her!

Day 31 of 365

Gramma and Papa had to go home today :-( We had a wonderful weekend with them and both girls LOVED having them here at the house! Makenna's absolute favorite was Papa chasing her everywhere we were... in the house, at the beach, at the park... anywhere we were! If only I could snag a bit of her energy for an hour or two... there is so much I could get accomplished... but no such luck!

With only a few hours available until Gramma and Papa had to head to the airport... we headed to the park for a picnic lunch and last minute play time in the warm sunny weather (we all knew rain would be awaiting Gramma and Papa in Oregon)! Makenna loves the swings and would sit there and swing and be pushed for an hour if we let her and Karlie only wants to try to climb up the slide.

attempting to climb up instead of slide down... silly girl has it backwards!

they found a slide they can both fit on!

on the move as usual... papa and daddy are closely following though

Burns family

@ home... Big girl can drink out of her sippy cup!

Miss Karlie is a very busy girl and playing in one toy isn't quite enough... She has to sit in one toy and play with another!

Day 30 of 365

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLIE!!!!!!!

Today my little princess Karlie turned one year old! It never ceases to amaze me how quickly time can fly by! I remember every detail of the morning she was born and the hours leading up to it. (sigh) Good sad thoughts of babies growing up too fast!

To celebrate Karlie's birthday we had a party at Big Cheese Co. here in Hemet. It worked out perfectly and was a huge blessing to not have to clean up the disaster that everyone created! You wouldn't believe what a one year old can do with a cake! She ate a few bites here and there but threw the entire thing on the floor! The picture below doesn't do justice! Luckily the workers were very nice and understanding and didn't complain when they saw the mess my child created!

We are truly blessed to have such great friends and family to celebrate our little girls' birthday with us! There are so many pictures and wonderful little stories I could go on forever.

Megan and her "baby" Karlie... Megan I swear will have 8 kids if her husband lets her!

Madie and Makenna... two peas in a pod!

Makenna and Hayden... they will be best friends for life!

so many presents! which one first?

I love headbands on little babies!

all the gifts are open thanks to all of Karlie's helpers! Madie, Megan, Kadence, Alle, Kalia and Makenna of course!

Happy Birthday to you...

Makenna got to blow out the candle... I think Megan helped though!

time to dig in

The beginning of a messy face

half way done

and the mess... if only you saw his in person you wouldn't believe such a sweet little girl could do this much damage!

Day 29 of 365

Another fantastic day with Gramma and Papa here! Papa and Daddy went shopping this am so Gramma and mommy and the babies went shopping also! We bought Karlie a red wagon (she has to share with her sister) for her birthday! Makenna seems to believe that the red wagon is hers and she will share... either way as long as they both share with each other I'm okay with it. Home for naps then off to a birthday party then home for diner then Gramma, Papa and Daddy left for Daddy's hockey game. Busy day!

I made spaghetti for dinner and of course that means there is a disaster to clean up after... which always leaves Makenna naked since she ruins her clothes... but she would prefer to be naked! Here she is enjoying some after dinner play time with Gramma and Papa! I LOVE her smile!!! She is quite the serious girl but when she lights up she really lights up!

Day 28 of 365

Fantastic day today!!! Papa wanted to visit a couple classic car dealerships in Orange County so we made a day out of it and headed to the beach also! The girls slept on the way there which made the drive quite easy and gave them a good start for a long day! A quick stop and car place #1 then some lunch then a quick stop at car place #2 and then we were headed to the beach! Found a perfect little spot of sand in the Dana Point Harbor near Doheny State Beach. There were no waves and perfect for the girls to crawl around and have some fun! After the initial "what's this / its icky" both girls were all over the sand and ocean water! We attempted to keep them dry and warm with long pants and sleeves... but if you watch the video... they took off straight for the water and sat down and played like angels! Makenna threw sand at everyone and Karlie dipped her hands in the water and then sucked on the salty taste! All was great fun until they both got a little cold and there were diaper issues to handle. Of course on a friday night at dinner time the drive home took twice as long as we desired it too, and both girls were extremely over being in the car and tired and hungry. All in all it was a great day!

Finally caught Karlie's "nasty" look on camera!

YAY!!! A very happy baby to be out of the car seat and playing with sister's toys!

So much fun to bury daddy's toes in the sand

My new favorite picture! Makenna throwing sand and Karlie just happy as can be to be free and crawling where ever her heart desires.

Done in the water... waiting for the sand to dry to be brushed off so we can go home... so much fun to be naked on the beach!!!

My little babies playing in the ocean! This was Karlie's first time to the beach/ocean.

Day 27 of 365

GRAMMA AND PAPA ARE HERE!!!!!!! It has been a long 3 & 1/2 months since we've seen them and we are all looking forward to a great weekend with them! The girls and I headed to the airport to pick them up and Makenna was SO SO SO excited to see them and play and giggle... it was too funny! It has been a great day of playing and running around and squealing and laughing and all around fun! You can tell when Makenna gets tired and wants to relax though... she asks to sit down and watch Mickey Mouse! But 5 minutes later she is asking papa... "Papa I want to run" which means a game if chase! Silly girl wears papa out!

Tomorrow is a day at the beach... Papa found a couple classic car dealerships he wants to look at out in Orange county so we might as well make a day of it and spend the day over there. I think we might need to give papa a time limit at each car place... he would look for hours if we let him! :-)

Little miss Karlie can climb into her swing all by herself and stand on her knees backwards! She then stands up on her feet and about gives me a heart-attack! I'm not found of her doing this because I think she'll fall and crack her head open... my brave little girl with no fear! To watch her climb in the swing is hilarious... she knows Makenna will shove her out of the way so she gets her little legs up there faster than anything I've ever seen and has the biggest proudest smile on her face!

Chad tries to teach Makenna to dribble the basketball... but she prefers to throw it... sports will hopefully come to her when she is a little bit older!
